Peter Clarke, Wembley Stadium May 2010......
Well, we can all dream, can't we!! Our long, long road to Wembley starts tonight (we are hosting Egg Chasing tomorrow, so I hear), with a clash agaiinst League 2 Dagenham & Redbridge (cue the old joke - what hope have we got taking on two teams at the same time Dagenham AND Redbridge...).
I had intended to attend as I am not in work today, however the fact that Dean Hoyle has seen fit NOT to slash prices in a fashion he should have done if a large attendance was in his plans put me (and my husband, as no way was he forking out £40 (£20 travel + £15 to get in + Sundries = £40) for me to go to a 1st round cup match against Division 4 opponents).
I don't know whether DH missed a trick (not like him) or if his hands were tied as regards pricing this game up. £15 is a bit steep I think, and I cannot see many attending, particularly as I would imagine a few bonfire parties may be taking place tonight. Had he said £5 to get in (unlikely I know, but as a gesture of goodwill welcome), I might have twisted Sams arm far enough. Oh well, Oggy and Kieran it is then!
Lee Clark is looking forward to tonight, his first FA Cup tie since he joined Town (Gerry Murphy being responsible for Towns capitulation against Port Vale 12 months ago), and the first time he has been involved in the competition in Round One either as player or coach.
